SportsWORLD

Executive Summary:

As conceived, SportsWORLD, is a year-round national destination amateur athletics training, competition and rehabilitation facility.   Spearheaded by Erik Widmark, Executive Director of The Grand Canyon State Games, the SportsWORLD concept has received strong interest and/or endorsement of numerous athletic, financial and real estate development organizations throughout the region and nation.

Currently, the SportsWorld concept is being marketed to potential business partners, sponsors and investors that have the vision and capacity to further analyze and propel the concept to a reality.

The goal for SportsWORLD is to tap into growing markets: amateur and professional sports competitions, which are drawing increasing corporate sponsorship dollars; conventions of sports related associations; and leisure travelers interested in various activities and fitness programs.

The ambitious project aims for several sports venues including a swimming and diving center, action sports arena to house basketball, gymnastics, wrestling, volleyball, badminton, table tennis, racquetball, and squash; tennis stadium, BMX track, soccer stadium, and several interchangeable softball, soccer, and flag football fields.

The intention is for SportsWORLD to be a family friendly destination with revenue streams to include moving ads on all buildings, naming rights, gate receipts, hotel rooms, and restaurants.

The economic impact formula used will consist of number of athletes times number of days times $100 times number of tournaments. BMX alone will generate over 200,000 tourism visits annually.

The vision is for SportsWORLD to become the amateur sports destination capitol of the world.  The venue will be built to be Olympic and NCAA friendly with daily, monthly, and event considerations to be at the center of the mindset.
