LOCATION: Saturday June 7, 2008 - Phoenix Prep. Academy, Phoenix. Registration at the door begins at 9:00 a.m. – competition starts at 10:00 a.m.
IN ADDITION: By participating all competitors automatically qualify for the State
Games of the West Championships in Colorado Springs, Colorado on July 24-27, 2008.
The event will feature approximately 8,000 athletes from thirteen Western States
competing for State pride & medals. Competition will be held at venues such as the
US Air Force Academy & the US Olympic Training Center.
ENTRY FEE: $40 for Kata, Kumite and Kobudo, or $35 for Kata & Kumite. $35 for Team Events.
ENTRY DEADLINE: Early entry deadline (postmarked on or before) Saturday May 24, 2008. Registration
taken up to and on the day of the event starting at 9 a.m. until 10 a.m.
DIVISIONS: Divisions may be adjusted to serve all competitors: children, youth – adults, men – women,
beginning, intermediate, advanced and black belt competitors. In addition to filling out the State Games
entry form, a tournament entry form may be required with a more complete breakdown of divisions.
KATA/KUMITE/KOBUDO: All contestants participating must wear a clean white uniform (GI). All competitors must have for kumite a mouthpiece, a set of hand pads, and males must wear a protective cup.
RULES: This Traditional Japanese/Okinawan Karate tournament will be using the 3-point (Shobu
Sanbon) Rules.
