Bowling

 

The Grand Canyon State Games is offering a statewide “qualification” format bowling competition in 2010. All athletes can participate in O NE or ALL of these qualifying competitions in an attempt to qualify for the S tate Games Finals on June 20, 2010. The location for the finals is AMF Deer Valley L anes, 2902 W. Thunderbird Rd., Phoenix.

 

ENTRY FEE: Each qualifying attempt & at semi-finals - $12 for all athletes. No fee charged for finals.


QUALIFYING DATES:
Participants may pre-register for qualifying events through this entry book, online at www.gcsg.org, on-site at qualifying locations or by contacting the bowling commissioner listed below.


March 27-28, 2010 AMF Deer Valley Lanes 9 am – 5 pm Register for this event
June 12-13, 2010 AMF Deer Valley Lanes 9 am – 5 pm Register for this event
June 18, 2010 AMF Deer Valley L anes 4 pm – 8 pm Register for this event


SEMI-FINALS DATES:
June 19, 2010 AMF Deer Valley Lanes 9 am – 5 pm

 

FINALS DATE:
June 20, 2010 AMF Deer Valley Lanes 9 am – 5 pm

 

EVENT FORMAT: Singles and Doubles. Handicap based on 90% from 210, except in the open divisions, which will bowl scratch. Qualifying will consist of 3 games. The top 5 in each division from each qualifying center will advance to the semi-finals. The semi-finals bowled on June 19th will consist of 3 games with the top five (5) in each adult division advancing to the finals; the top three (3) in each youth division will advance to the finals. The list of final qualifiers will be posted at AMF Deer Valley by 9 pm on June 19th. The finals format will be a step ladder style event. The finals of the Youth Divisions will start at 9:30 am, followed by the Youth Doubles Division, Adult/Youth Doubles Division, Adult Singles Division and Adult Doubles Division. Awards will be presented after each final on June 20th .

 

AVERAGES: Verification must be submitted with entry.
Adults: 1 - Highest 2008-09 book average
2 - If none, use highest current 2008-09 league average (21 games or more)
3 - If none, use highest 2009 summer average
4 - If none, bowler will bowl scratch


Youth: 1 - Highest current 2008-09 league average (21 games or more)
2 - If none, use highest 2009 summer average
3 - If none, use highest 2008-09 book average
4 - If none, bowler will bowl scratch


GENERAL/STATEWIDE RULES:
Available at site in accordance with rules and guidelines set up by USBC.


DIVISIONS: All Singles Divisions will be both Male & Female

IMPORTANT: ALL QUALIFIERS MUST DECLARE IN WRITING AT QUALIFICATION SITE THAT THEY WILL PARTICIPATE IN THE GRAND CANYON GAMES SEMI-FINALS AND FINALS HELD ON JUNE 19 & 20, 2010. IF A QUALIFIER CANNOT ATTEND THE FINALS, THE NEXT PLACE QUALIFIER WILL BE INVITED.

Bowling is “not” assigned to the Winter Games or International Summer Games. Bowling is a series of qualifying competitions as outlined above.
