Rock Climbing
In 2010, The Grand Canyon State Games will offer two separate Rock Climbing
competitions. Athletes are encouraged to enter both events. Separate fee for
each competition will be charged. See below for BOTH events.
LOCATION: Saturday, January 30, 2010 at 10 am at Climbmax Gym -
1330 W. Auto Drive, Tempe.
ENTRY FEE: $40.
ENTRY DEADLINE: Early entry deadline (postmarked on or before)
January 16 , 2010. L ate entry deadline up to and on the day of event,
accepted with Commissioners’ approval; based on availability.
DIVISIONS & EVENT FORMAT: This is a Red Point Boulder Competition - 3 hours of climbing. Top 5 climbs
for score. O ffered in Beginner, Intermediate, Advance & Open divisions in male & female categories. All
climbers must complete a Climbmax waiver form and a GCSG entry form to compete. Minors must have
parents complete the form prior to climbing.

LOCATION: February 20, 2010 starting at 5pm– Phoenix Rock Gym;
1353 E. University in Tempe.
ENTRY FEE: $40.

to and on the day of event, accepted with Commissioners approval; based on availability.
DIVISIONS & EVENT FORMAT: Male/Female ages 13 & under, Male/Female ages 14-19, Male/Female ages 20-29, Male/Female ages 30-39, Male/Female ages 40-49, Male/Female ages 50 & up. THIS WILL BE A TOP-ROPE COMPETITION. EACH ROUTE WILL HAVE A POINT VALUE BASED ON THE DIFFICULTY OF THE ROUTE. CLIMBERS MAY CLIMB AS MANY ROUTES AS THEY WANT. THE TOP 5 ROUTES WILL DETERMINE THEIR SCORE. ALL CLIMBERS MUST COMPLETE BOTH A GRAND CANYON STATE GAMES WAIVER AND A FACILITY WAIVER TO COMPETE. ALL MINORS (UNDER THE AGE OF 18), MUST HAVE THEIR PARENT COMPLETE THE MINOR WAIVER PRIOR TO CLIMBING
